The measurement tools provide the ability to measure lengths and areas using polylines and polygons which can be manually drawn in the drawing pane view.

The Measurement tools can be found in the Drawing section of the Home ribbon, or the Measuring section of the Layout ribbon.

Both the Length and Area tools are used in the same way: After clicking on one of the ribbon buttons, a small form will open with the appropriate label and units (for instance, feet for Length and feet squared for Area).

Click anywhere on the drawing to begin a measurement. In the case of the Length tool, this will be a polyline, while the Area tool draws a polygon. When you have completed drawing the section you would like to measure, right-click on the mouse and select Done

Right clicking the measurement results form presents a Units and Formatting option , which opens the Set Field Options dialog, allowing you to change the units of the calculation, as well as the precision and format of the output.
